It is with sublime celebration and supreme humility that we would like to share Paradigm Nouveau’s 5 year anniversary with you.

Dear Paradigm Nouveau Friends and Colleagues:

In 2005 I launched a new paradigm, a paradigm where people lead and leaders follow. I took a stand based on 25 years of practice and research. A new paradigm isn’t created overnight; rather it is birthed over a significant period of time. PNE draws from the work of Albert Einstein, who emphasized creativity and imagination over knowledge; Buckminster Fuller, who spoke of Spaceship Earth, the fragile balance humanity lives in and individual responsibility for the future; Mahatma Gandhi, who demonstrated the power of a stand and Werner Erhard, who brought the idea of an individual making a difference to the masses. Paradigm Nouveau is steeped in synergistic models, contextual behavior, and personal integrity. Many of you have been co-creators in this unprecedented body of work, being people who lead. Wow! Thank you so much for standing with me for our future ~ I am blown away with what we’ve created!

PNE’s multi-faceted accomplishments over the past 5 years are registered in the following areas:

Global Transformation through Synergistic Projects

• 5 Year members of the Clinton Global Initiative, 2006-2010
• Co-producer of the Presidential Inauguration Conference in Washington, DC, January 2009
• Supported the Treasure America Project to provide an alternative economic base (rather than oil production) for native Alaskan residents, 2005-2006
• Climate Protection Manual for Cities, a joint project with Natural Capitalism Solutions to create a free resource for communities around the world to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, 2006-2007

Creating a Green Economy through Equity Investments

• Solar Village Homes, designing the country’s first affordable zero net homes, 2008-2010
• Inspiritu Verde, first green building project in Steamboat Springs, CO, 2006-2010
• EarthWorks Expo (successor to the Global Warming Expo), Denver’s biggest, most informative and empowering green-living event of the year, 2008-2010

Humanitarian Outreach at Home and Abroad

• Partnered with Natural Capitalism Solutions to bring USAID funding for orphanages in Afghanistan, 2005
• Supported Ramana’s Garden Orphanage in India, 2009
• Grants and support for:
  • International Peace Initiatives (IPI), 2007
  • Free-A-Child. 2006-2007
  • World Council of Elders, 2006
  • Hands in Peace, 2008
  • Circles of Ten: Women for Peace, 2005-2006

Community Transformation through Public Events & Synergistic Partnerships

• Produced the Global Warming Expos, community events to inspire participants to reduce carbon footprint, using the best of arts, science, politics, academics and business, 2007-2008
• Founding supporter of etown Hall, a LEED certified community center, recording studio, intimate stage and offices for etown, a weekly national radio show highlighting sustainable communities, 2006-2010
• Initiated the New Light Project, replacing lighting in two state capitol buildings (Colorado and New Hampshire) to demonstrate leadership at the state level for energy efficiency, savings and reduced carbon footprint. Savings to taxpayers = $150,000+, 2006-2007
• Launched Mothers Adapting Securely and Sustainably (M.A.S.S.), a mothers organization designed to spearhead sustainable communities, 2010
• Provided support for Shining Mountain Waldorf School to become a zero waste campus, 2008
• Sponsorships, grants and administrative support to:
  • Center for ReSource Conservation, 2005-2009
  • Bioneers at CU Environmental Center, 2007-2008

• Opened Paradigm Nouveau Yoga Studio with 5 years of classes, 2005-2010
• NCAR scientist (and IPCC member) Susie Moser discussed the IPCC findings in Global Warming Expo I, 2007
• NSIDC Lead Scientist Ted Scambos gave the keynote presentation, “Of Ice and Fire,” at Global Warming Expo II, 2008
• Grants and support to:
  • 3rd Law Dance Theater, 2005-2010
  • Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet, 2008
  • Boulder Ballet, 2005-2007
  • Dairy Center for the Arts, 2007
  • Boulder County Arts Alliance, 2008

Social Media

• Launched YouTube Channel ParadigmNouveau1 with 20 videos and thousands of views, 2008-2010
• Developed Facebook fan page with nearly 500 fans , 2009-2010
• Created Twitter account with new paradigm material updated on a regular basis, 2009-2010
• Designed a state-of-the-art Paradigm Nouveau website, 2008-2010

It is on this auspicious anniversary that I’m excited to launch SB2020, Sustainable Boulder by the year 2020. SB2020 is the culmination of everything I’ve learned in the past 30 years and is our primary work for the next 10. It promises to be a decade like no other.
